Dear People of St. Patrick Parish,
As we continue our Advent journey, we use the scriptures, the teachings of the Catholic Church, the Sacraments and the light from the Four Advent Candles, to help us grow in our love for God the Father and Jesus Christ, His loving Son who loves us so much.
We take the readings from Isaiah, the Prophet today, to see what the prophets told the
people about the coming of a Messiah. We now know that was Jesus Christ whose birthday we will celebrate at Christmas.
As we light the second advent candle today, we take our thoughts of Hope from last week and look to the second week which is Peace. Hope looks toward peace and as we use these two other words yet to come.
We are all invited to attend the Diocese of Oakland Simbang Gabi on Saturday, December 13th from 11:00am – 1:00pm at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Concord. The different Parishes like us will be there with Bishop Barber and our Parish Parols to prepare for our Parish Simbang Gabi celebration from December 16th to December 24th. Please come to the Mass and have lunch together after the Mass at St. Francis. Many of us are going.
Next Sunday, December 14th at 2:00pm at St. Joseph Church in Pinole, our Deanery Parishes will come together to celebrate Simbang Gabi Kick Off in our local Parishes. Please let us be happy to come together as our Diocese of Oakland people showing our love for God this Christmas.
